Mangaluru, 11 July 2026: Government PU College, Balmatta, Mangaluru, in association with Swastika National Business School Skill Club, successfully organised the inaugural ceremony of the Skill Club.

The programme commenced with a prayer by the students of Government PU College, Balmatta, followed by the event being gracefully compered by Ms. Pooja, a student of the college, while students actively participated throughout the programme by interacting with the resource person and asking insightful questions during the session.

The Skill Club was formally inaugurated by Mrs. Bindiya Narayan Nayak, District Officer, Backward Class Welfare Department, Dakshina Kannada. Following the inauguration, the dignitaries and guests were warmly welcomed.

In her inaugural address, Mrs. Bindiya Narayan Nayak highlighted the importance of skill development, personality enhancement, and empowering students to become responsible citizens.

The Chief Guest, Mrs. Vidyalaxmi P. Shetty, Vice Principal, Swastika National Business School, Mangaluru, addressed the gathering and encouraged students to actively participate in Skill Club activities to improve their communication, leadership, and employability skills.

The programme was presided over by Mrs. Vanitha Devadiga, Principal, Government PU College, Balmatta, who appreciated the collaborative initiative and motivated students to make the best use of the opportunities provided through the Skill Club.

The resource session was delivered by Dr. K. T. Shwetha, Clinical Psychologist and Director, Anirvedha Foundation – Resource Centre for Psychological Well-being, Jeppu, Mangaluru. She spoke on “Mind Bridge – Bridging Gaps with Professional Counselling,” explaining the importance of mental health, emotional well-being, stress management, self-awareness, and seeking professional counselling whenever required. She encouraged students to maintain a positive mindset and prioritize their psychological well-being for academic and personal success. The session was highly interactive, with students enthusiastically participating and asking thought-provoking questions.

The programme coordinated by Ms. Deeksha Devadiga, Skill Club coordinator, Swastika National Business School and Mrs. Smitha A, Skill Club coordinator, Government PU College Balmatta.

The inauguration of the Skill Club and the counselling initiative marked an important step towards empowering students with life skills and promoting mental wellness.
