Mangaluru, July 23: Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Mangaluru, organized a Drug Addiction Awareness Programme on 23 July 2026 at the SCP Auditorium with the objective of creating awareness among students about the dangers of drug abuse and encouraging them to lead a healthy, drug-free life.
The awareness session was conducted by Sri. Gururaj, Sub Inspector, along with a Police Constable from Kankanady Police Station, Mangaluru. Addressing the students, Sri. Gururaj spoke about the growing threat of drug addiction, the legal consequences of drug-related offences, and the serious physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of substance abuse. He urged students to resist peer pressure, make responsible decisions, and actively contribute towards building a drug-free society.
The session included real-life examples and interactive discussions that enabled students to better understand the consequences of substance abuse. The police officials also highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Karnataka Police to combat drug abuse among youth and encouraged students to participate in anti-drug awareness campaigns.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. A. R. Shabaraya, Principal and Director of Srinivas College of Pharmacy. Dr. Kumar Prasad, Professor, welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource persons. Heads of Departments, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students from B.Pharm, Pharm.D, D.Pharm, and M.Pharm participated enthusiastically in the programme.
The programme concluded with a strong message promoting a healthy, responsible lifestyle and inspired students to become advocates for a drug-free campus and society.
