Mangaluru, 21 August 2026: Swastika National Business School, Mangaluru, in collaboration with Madeleine Pre University College, Karnad, Mulki, organized a workshop on “Body Image & Mental Health” on 21 August 2026 at Madeleine PU College, Karnad. The programme was jointly organized by the Skill Club of Swastika National Business School and the Skill Club of Madeleine PU College.
The session was facilitated by Mrs. Preethi Shettigar, Provisional Zone Trainer – JCI India and Assistant Professor, Swastika National Business School. The workshop aimed to create awareness among students about the close relationship between body image, mental health and overall emotional well-being.
During the session, students were encouraged to understand what body image means and how their thoughts and feelings about their appearance can influence their confidence, emotions and mental well-being. The facilitator highlighted how social media, friends, family, culture and societal expectations can shape perceptions about appearance and sometimes lead to unhealthy comparisons.
The workshop also focused on developing self-acceptance, positive thinking and confidence, while helping students recognize and manage negative thoughts. Students were encouraged to avoid comparing themselves with others and to develop a healthier and more positive attitude towards themselves.
The session also emphasized the importance of emotional well-being and peer support, encouraging students to be understanding and supportive of friends who may be struggling with negative self-perceptions or emotional challenges.
The interactive session provided students with an opportunity to reflect on their own perceptions, understand external influences and learn practical approaches to building a healthier relationship with themselves.
The programme concluded with a message encouraging students to value themselves beyond physical appearance and to prioritize self-acceptance, mental well-being and healthy relationships.
The workshop was successfully conducted as part of the Skill Club initiatives of both institutions, with the objective of equipping students with greater awareness, confidence and essential life skills.
