Puttur, 8 November 2024: A one-day workshop on Mental Health of Adolescents and Stress Management was organized at the Vaidehi Sabhangan, Vivekananda College, Puttur, for teachers of the constituent colleges of Vivekananda Institutes. The event was a joint initiative by Dr. Thunga’s Manaswini Hospital, Arkula Farangipet, Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha Puttur, Rotary Club District 3181, and Rotary Club Puttur.

The workshop was inaugurated by Rtn. Harshakumar Rai, Rotary International, District 3181, who emphasized the importance of mental health awareness and the role of educators in recognizing and addressing stress and mental health issues among adolescents. The event was graced by Dr. Shripati Rao, President of Rotary Club Puttur, who served as the chief guest and shared valuable insights on mental health challenges faced by young people today. Mr. Sathish Rao, Vice President of Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha Puttur, presided over the session.

The workshop featured renowned counselors and experts as resource persons:

  • Mrs. Shashikala, Counselor and Coordinator for Community Services, who led a session on mental health awareness, focusing on the early signs of stress and mental health challenges in adolescents.
  • Mrs. Suman Pinto, Counselor and Coordinator for Deaddiction Services, who conducted a session on stress management techniques and the importance of addressing addiction issues in the adolescent age group.

The interactive sessions provided the teachers with practical tools and strategies to support their students in managing stress, improving mental health, and fostering a positive environment both in and outside the classroom. The workshop aimed to equip educators with the knowledge needed to recognize signs of mental health issues in students and to guide them in providing appropriate support.

The event was well-received by the participants, with positive feedback on the valuable insights shared by the experts and the opportunity to learn new techniques for handling stress and mental health concerns in students.

The organizing bodies expressed their gratitude to the resource persons and all attendees for their participation in making the workshop a success.
