MANGALURU, December 15, 2025:The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Swastika National Business School (SNBS), Mangaluru, organized a heartwarming community outreach programme titled “Golden Moments” at Chiranthana Geriatric Health Care, Surathkal, bringing joy and companionship to the elderly residents.
The initiative, conducted in association with Chiranthana Geriatric Health Care, reflected the true spirit of the NSS motto “Not Me But You.” The programme aimed to foster intergenerational bonding, provide emotional support, and create meaningful engagement with senior citizens.As part of the programme, NSS volunteers from the III BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) programme actively interacted with the residents through singing and music sessions, light recreational games, informal group discussions, and heartfelt one-on-one conversations where the elderly shared their life experiences. The volunteers also extended support to the staff in general care activities.
The interactions created a warm and cheerful atmosphere, offering the residents a sense of companionship and emotional well-being. The programme proved to be a therapeutic experience, helping reduce feelings of loneliness while spreading happiness among the elderly.
The outreach was efficiently organized and led by III BSW students Mrudula, Nayana, Nikitha, Shivani, and Shashikath, highlighting Swastika National Business School’s emphasis on experiential learning and social responsibility. The initiative also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being, addressing the social and emotional health of senior citizens.
A representative from Swastika National Business School emphasized the significance of such initiatives, stating that engaging with vulnerable sections of society enables students to learn empathy, compassion, and the true essence of community service.
The staff and management of Chiranthana Geriatric Health Care, operated under the Chiranthana Charitable Trust, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers, noting that the students’ enthusiasm and positive energy brought immense joy to the residents.
