Mangalore, 15 August 2025: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) commemorated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervor. The flag hoisting ceremony, held in front of the Admin Block, was attended by a large gathering of students and staff.
Chief Guest Dr. Ishwar Bhat, Professor and Director, School of Physical Sciences, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity. Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ encouraged everyone to strive for excellence, paying tribute to the nation’s freedom fighters.
The event featured a parade by NCC Units, patriotic songs by the University choir, and a street play on Anti-Ragging by the dramatic association. Winners of poster making and reels making competitions were felicitated by the dignitaries.
The program concluded with the distribution of sweets and Independence Day wishes. Dr. Anup Denzil Veigas, Chair of Student Council, led the organization of the event, while Student Council President Mr. Anson Rego and his team ensured its seamless execution.
