Mangaluru, November 29, 2025: Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Mangalore, made a strong and noteworthy participation in the massive Walkathon organized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) at Mangala Stadium on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 7:30 AM. The event, aimed at creating awareness on Organ Donation and Nasha Mukth Bharat, witnessed the participation of around 12,500 healthcare students from Medical, Dental, AYUSH, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Allied Health Sciences colleges across Dakshina Kannada.

The inaugural ceremony was held at Mangala Stadium, where Dr. Bhagavan B. C., Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of RGUHS, delivered the welcome address. The Walkathon was flagged off by Shri U. T. Khader, Hon’ble Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, and presided over by Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Dakshina Kannada District In-charge. Dakshina Kannada MP Shri Brijesh Chowta also addressed the gathering, encouraging students to support the cause of organ donation and drug-free living.

Srinivas College of Pharmacy participated under the leadership of Dr. A. R. Shabaraya, Principal and Director, who led the team with active involvement. The Heads of various departments – Dr. Kumara Prasad S A, Dr. Krishnananda Kamath, Dr. Viresh K Chandur, Dr. Sripathy D, and Dr. Padmavathi P Prabhu along with all faculty members, took part in the Walkathon. More than 150 students from the college enthusiastically joined the march, carrying placards and raising slogans to spread awareness on drug abuse prevention and the importance of organ donation.

The participants marched from Mangala Stadium to Karavali Grounds via MCC and Lalbagh signal. The strong presence of Srinivas College of Pharmacy added to the impact of the event, which has now set a record as one of the largest gatherings of healthcare students for a social cause in the RGUHS Dakshina Kannada Zone.
The management of Srinivas College of Pharmacy appreciated the efforts of all participating staff and students and reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging community health initiatives and contributing positively to public welfare.
