Mangaluru, 21 August 2025: The Department of Secondary Education, Dakshina Kannada, in association with Swastika National Business School, Mangaluru, organized a District-Level Yoga Competition for Pre-University students at Swastika Waterfront, Sulthan Bathery, Mangaluru. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 50 students from various PU colleges across the district, who showcased their talent, discipline, and passion for yoga.

The competition featured multiple categories, including Normal Postures, Artistic Yoga, and Rhythmic Yoga, allowing students to display their flexibility, creativity, and synchronization.

The program was inaugurated by Sri Gopalkrishna Delampady, Yoga Rathna and founder of Delampady Yoga Prathistana. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the importance of yoga as a way of life and encouraged students to practice it daily for holistic well-being.

Sri Premanath Shetty, District Sports Officer, Dakshina Kannada, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Sri Radhakrishna, President of the District Physical Education Director’s Association, and Smt. Rajeshwari H. H., Deputy Director, Department of Secondary Education, Dakshina Kannada, were the Guests of Honour. They highlighted the role of yoga in enhancing concentration, resilience, and overall student performance.

The event was presided over by Dr. Raghavendra Holla N, Chairman of Swastika National Business School, and Dr. Malini N Hebbar, Principal. The competition was coordinated by Mr. Prathim Kumar K. S., Physical Director, Swastika National Business School.
The vibrant display of postures and performances reflected the dedication of young participants and underlined the significance of yoga in nurturing both physical and mental health. Winners across categories were recognized and awarded for their commendable performances.

This initiative not only celebrated the cultural heritage of yoga but also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, promoting fitness and mindfulness among the youth.
