Mangalore, October 02, 2024: Swachhata Hi Sewa ( SHS) 2024, a massive beach cleaning drive at Ullal beach was successfully organised by the NSS & YRC unit of P.A. First Grade College, Mangaluru on 2nd October 2024, from 8 A.M. to 11 A.M. as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his 155th birth anniversary.

Ms.Chaithra N.V, Asst. Professor & NSS Program Officer welcomed the gathering and gave the preamble of the program emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

The beach cleaning drive was inaugurated by Dr. Surfraz J Hasim, Principal, PAFGC in the presence of Ms. Deepti Udyavar, Head – Department of Commerce & Management, Ms. Ithashree .M, NSS Program Officer, Mr. Arif,Mr Lohith, Ms. Sreelaxmi-Members of NSS,YRC Coordinator Ms. Sara M and Mr. Sameer, Mr. Sachin Giri, Mr. Sali Asham, Mr. Sajeer, Capt.Rudresha, campus supervisor, Janab Izzudhheen Kausari, Imam, PACE Prayer Hall, Dr Iqbal, PD,Mr Naufal,Mr Hamza-Staff,PACE.

Mr. Asgar, Counsellor, Ullal Town Panchayat appreciated the efforts of NSS & YRC volunteers for taking up this great initiative. The heart of the event was the enthusiastic participation of 35 student volunteers who actively engaged in cleaning the beach.
They diligently collected plastic waste and other waste materials and made arrangements to dispose with the help of Ullal Town Panchayath.
The Swachhatha Jatha program was successfully conducted, starting from Ullal Junction and extending to the Ullal beach area. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about cleanliness and environmental conservation among the local community.

The event received significant support from the general public of the Ullal area.
During the valedictory program, Mr. Sunil Kumar, ASI, along with Mr. Sanjay and Mr. Raviraj from the Ullal Police Station, praised the efforts of all participants. They emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in our daily lives, encouraging everyone to prioritize hygiene and environmental awareness. Their remarks highlighted the critical role cleanliness plays in community health and well-being.
The Swachhatha Hi Seva 2024 event was a resounding success , promoting the value of cleanliness and environmental responsibility among students and staff. The active participation and commitment displayed during the program reflect the dedication of the college towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
