Mangaluru, 23 December 2025: P.B. Ahmed Mudassar, President of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), stated that the new Labour Codes introduced by the Central Government mark a watershed moment in India’s reform process, with far-reaching implications for industry, employment, and overall economic growth.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a one-day seminar on “Understanding the Labour Codes & Its Implications – Practical Insights”, jointly organised by the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Mangaluru Chapter, and KCCI.

Mr. Mudassar observed that the enthusiasm currently seen among the business and industrial community towards the new Labour Codes is similar to the positive response witnessed during the rollout of GST.

He noted that the reforms are expected to simplify compliance, improve transparency, and create a more conducive environment for growth while safeguarding workers’ interests.Inaugurating the seminar, Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada, welcomed the introduction of the new Labour Codes and congratulated NIPM and KCCI for organising an informative programme for organisations in the region. He emphasised the need for effective implementation of the Codes and assured his support in addressing any challenges in their practical application by taking such matters to the notice of the Central Government for the benefit of both employers and employees.

K.S. Prabhoda, Chairman of NIPM Mangaluru, stated that the Labour Codes would bring a larger segment of the workforce under the ambit of labour laws, thereby enhancing social security while also promoting ease of doing business.S.K. Gupta, Solicitor and Advocate, Supreme Court, addressed participants on the Social Security Code and the Code on Wages, outlining eight core principles essential for effective wage restructuring. Author and labour law and industry expert N.S. Govindaraju elaborated on the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code and the Industrial Relations Code.

The seminar witnessed participation from over 200 representatives from various industries. K. Santosh, Secretary of NIPM Mangaluru, and several other dignitaries were also present, contributing to the success of the programme.
