Mangalore, 8 November 2024: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Canara College, in collaboration with the Anti-Ragging and Anti-Drug Committee, organized an insightful and engaging event titled “Life Beyond Campus” – An Interactive Meet for Paying Guest & Hostel Students. The session was held at P.A. First Grade College, Seminar Hall 2, at 11:00 AM, and was specially designed for students residing in hostels and paying guest accommodations.

The event featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including:

- Dr. Sarfraz J. Hasim, Principal, PAFG
- Dr. G. Harikrishnan, Vice Principal, PAFG
- Ms. Vanishree, Coordinator, IQAC
- Ms. Deepthi Udyavar, Head of Department, Commerce
- Ms. Noorjahan Begum, Head of Department, Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)
- Ms. Ashalatha, Head of Department, Food and Nutrition (FND)
- Student Welfare Officers (SWOs)
The session opened with Dr. Rameez M.K. addressing the students, emphasizing the importance of recognizing their roles and responsibilities not only towards their college but also toward society. He urged students to make conscious and informed choices, particularly in avoiding harmful practices such as drug use and alcohol consumption, which can severely affect personal development and disrupt the well-being of the broader community.
The session provided a platform for open dialogue and interactive discussions, allowing students to gain valuable insights on life beyond campus. It focused on fostering a sense of responsibility among students, encouraging them to take active steps towards ensuring their mental, emotional, and physical well-being, while also contributing to a safer, healthier, and more supportive campus environment.
The event successfully raised awareness among the students about making informed choices that will positively impact their future and ensure that they are well-prepared for life beyond their college years.
