Mangaluru, 15 August 2025: Swastika National Business School, in association with Rotary Mangalore Downtown, ESRAG South Asia, WiZdomEd, Unite for Good, and the Rovers rangers Unit, National Service Scheme (NSS), of Swastika proudly celebrated the 79th Independence Day with a patriotic and eco-conscious initiative under the banner of Parisara Maitri #7 – Nurturing Green Friendship. The event took place at Swastika Waterfront, Sulthan Bathery, Mangaluru, bringing together students, faculty, Rotarians, and community members to honor the spirit of freedom while committing to a greener tomorrow.
The program commenced with the flag hoisting by Rtn MPHF Satish Bolar, District Governor Elect, Rotary International District 3181, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of safeguarding the nation’s freedom and environment for future generations, encouraging the youth to become responsible citizens and environmental stewards.
Dr. Raghavendra Holla N, Chairman of Swastika National Business School, in his speech, highlighted the role of education in shaping responsible, environmentally conscious leaders. He praised the students for their active participation in sustainability initiatives and urged them to continue making a positive difference in their communities.
As part of the event, Mrs. Vidyalakshmi Shetty, NSS Officer, provided an insightful brief on the objectives of Parisara Maitri. She explained how the initiative connects the celebration of independence with ecological responsibility, aiming to instill the habit of tree planting and care among students.
In a unique green pledge, each student planted a sapling in a designated household. The students committed to personally taking care of their plants through weekly visits to monitor growth and health—ensuring that the project leaves a lasting impact.
The celebration concluded with a message of unity, responsibility, and hope, reminding everyone that true independence also means living in harmony with nature. The combined spirit of patriotism and environmental stewardship made the 79th Independence Day a memorable and impactful occasion for all participants.
