Mangalore, August 15, 2024: Ladyhill Victoria Girls’ Composite P.U. College celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The flag unfurling ceremony was held August 15, preceded by a celebration on August 14th, organized by the college student council.
The event began with a prayer service, followed by a graceful welcome dance by students. Panchami Shenoy, College President, welcomed the gathering. Retd. Sergeant Ronald Pereira, Indian Air Force, was the chief guest, emphasizing the significance of Independence Day and motivating students to contribute to society and the country’s development. He also spoke about the “Drug Free India” campaign.
The college choir sang patriotic songs, and the dance group performed a unity-themed dance, showcasing various state dances. An inter-class patriotic singing competition was also held. As part of the Drug Free India Campaign, the chief guest encouraged students to say no to drugs and planted a rose sapling as a reminder.
The event was attended by college principal Sr. Ujvala AC, Vice Principal Sr. Sharmila AC, Sr. Arpita AC, Sr. Deeshna AC, judges, sisters of the community, faculty members, and students. Gayana, College Vice President, proposed the vote of thanks, and Sana Halima of I st science compered the program, which concluded with the national anthem
