Sullia, 11 October 2025: The Dakshina Kannada District Level Kabaddi Tournament for Pre-University Colleges was inaugurated today with great enthusiasm at the Sharadhothsava Pendal, in front of Sri Chennakeshava Temple, Sullia. The event is jointly organized by the Department of School Education (Pre-University) and Nehru Memorial Pre-University College (NMPUC), Sullia.
The inaugural ceremony commenced at 9:30 a.m. and was presided over by Mr. Akshay K. C., General Secretary of the Academy of Liberal Education (R), Kurunjibag, Sullia.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by Mr. Premanath Shetty, District Sports Coordinator, who highlighted the importance of sports in shaping discipline, teamwork, and leadership among students.
Guests of Eminence included Smt. Rajeshwari H. H., Deputy Director, Department of School Education (P.U.), Shri Chandrashekara Peralu, Administrative Officer, NMPUC, Sullia, and Shri Gokuldas, Honorable President, Sharadamba Seva Samiti. They commended the efforts of the organizers and encouraged the young athletes to display sportsmanship and dedication throughout the competition.
The Principal of NMPUC, Smt. Mithali P. Rai, along with Kabaddi Coach Nagaraj Naik and Student Welfare Officer Baby Vidya, played key roles in coordinating the event and welcoming the teams from across Dakshina Kannada district. The staff and students of NMPUC also extended warm hospitality to all participants.
The tournament promises exciting and competitive Kabaddi matches as talented Pre-University teams from the district vie for the coveted championship title.
