Mangaluru, 12 September 2025: The District Level Football Tournament for Pre-University (PUC) Girls was successfully organized on September 12, 2025, at St Joseph’s Pre-University College, Bajpe. The prestigious tournament was conducted under the auspices of the Department of School Education (Pre-University), Dakshina Kannada, in collaboration with St Joseph’s PU College, Bajpe.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by Rev. Andrew D’Souza, Joint Secretary of the College Management, who highlighted the importance of sports in shaping discipline, teamwork, and leadership among students. Principal-in-Charge, Ramakrishna Udupa, and Senior Lecturer in Economics, Rathnakar, along with distinguished officials, graced the occasion and encouraged the participants.
A total of six PUC girls’ football teams from across Dakshina Kannada district showcased their talent, energy, and competitive spirit on the field. The matches were keenly contested, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for football among pre-university students.
After an exciting series of matches, St Joseph’s Pre-University College, Bajpe, emerged as the winners of the district-level football tournament, while St Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangalore, secured the position of runners-up. The winning team was applauded for their excellent coordination, skill, and determination, which led them to victory on their home ground.
The event was meticulously planned and executed under the leadership of Mr. Arun D’Souza, Lecturer in Physical Education at St Joseph’s PU College, Bajpe, who served as the chief organizer.
The District Level PUC Girls’ Football Tournament concluded on a high note with appreciation from students, faculty, and sports enthusiasts. The event not only promoted women’s participation in sports but also encouraged the spirit of healthy competition and teamwork among pre-university students of Dakshina Kannada.
