Mangalore, December 1, 2024: A large-scale beach cleaning program was conducted today at Chitrapura Beach, aimed at fostering environmental awareness and encouraging community involvement in preserving natural resources. The initiative was jointly organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association, KRADAI Mangalore, Mangalore Police Department, Mangalore Maha Nagar Corporation, Mangalore Smart City, and Swastika National Business School in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS).
Srinivas Nayak Indaje, President of the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association (R), presided over the event and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling environmental challenges. To inspire and encourage student participation, caps were distributed by Shri Vinod A.R. Pinto, President of Kadle, Mangalore.
The program was graced by the presence of esteemed Chief Guests: Mr. Chandrasekhar, Deputy Commissioner (Development), Mangalore Metropolitan Corporation. Ms. Aruna Prabha, General Manager, Mangalore Smart City. Dr. Raghavendra Holla, Chairman, Swastika National Business School. Shri P. B. Harish Rai, President of Mangalore Press Club, and Mr. Yatish Baikampadi, Conductor of Amrita Vidyalaya, Mangalore, also attended the event and shared their insights on environmental conservation.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 200 students, faculty members, and volunteers. Together, they worked diligently to clean the beach, collecting and segregating waste, which will be processed for appropriate disposal. This beach cleaning drive not only emphasized the importance of keeping our coastal areas clean but also served as a reminder of the power of community-driven actions in building a sustainable future.
