Mangalore, 28 Septmber 2024: the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). in collaboration with NSS, , YRS and Yenepoya Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Mangalore, organized a Basic Life Support (BLS) Hands-On Training Program in the Multipurpose Hall to observe World Health Day. The event also aligned with World Heart Day, highlighting the theme “Use Heart for Action,” emphasizing the importance of heart health and timely intervention.

The Resource person, Dr. Krishna Kumar V., Professor & HOD of the Department of Kriya Sharira at Yenepoya Ayurveda Medical College, led an engaging session. He gave a detailed demonstration of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), explaining the CAB (Circulation, Airway, Breathing) technique. His message focused on the importance of early recognition of cardiac issues, immediate chest compressions, and ensuring timely action during emergencies. “Take the right action quickly and confidently at the right time to save a life,” Dr. Krishna Kumar urged. He also highlighted that using both the brain for function and the heart for action is crucial in responding to emergencies, emphasizing preparedness in every situation.

The event was attended by Dr. G. Harikrishnan, Vice Principal, who praised the initiative for empowering participants with essential life-saving skills. Ms. Vanishree Y., the IQAC Coordinator, NSS officers Ms. Chaithra N.V. and Ms. Ithashree M, Heads of various departments and faculty members were present.

The program was anchored by Ms. Safwa Nisar from 2nd year BCA, with a prayer led by Mr. Mohammed Ashique from 2nd year BBA A, a welcome speech by Ms. Hiya Ashique from 2nd year FND, and the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Haifa Mariyamma from 2nd year FND.

This hands-on training program successfully equipped participants with crucial skills, ensuring they are prepared to act swiftly and confidently in emergencies, with the potential to save lives.
