Belthangady, 3 August 2024 : Vani College hosted the ‘Aati Onji Nempu’ Program, organized by the Tulu Association of Vani Pre University College. The event aimed to explore the rich cultural heritage of Tulunad and its significance in modern times.
Mrs. Meenakshi, Head of the Department of Political Science at Vani PU College, highlighted the multi-faceted nature of Tulunad’s rituals, which encompass ideological and scientific ideas. Speaking at the program, she emphasized that the people of Tulu Nadu lived in harmony with nature and practiced the art of living in all seasons.
During the month of ‘Ashada’, when food was scarce, they maintained their health by consuming greens, tubers, and yams available in their environment, enabling them to remain disease-free for years. Mrs. Meenakshi stressed the importance of understanding and passing on the significance of Tulunad’s rituals to future generations.
Mr. Narayana Gowda Devasya, Vice President of Vani Education Institute, inaugurated the program by playing the Chennemane. He noted that people today primarily consume restaurant food, leading to various diseases. He emphasized that maintaining societal health requires hard work and a balanced diet.

Mr. Yadupathi Gowda, the college principal, presided over the function. Vice Principal Mr. Vishnu Prakash M was also present. Coordinator of Tulu Association, Mr. Mahabala Gowda welcomed the attendees, while Lecturer Mr. Beliyappa K expressed gratitude. Kumari Anuksha skillfully narrated the program.
